Bella Cepeda is a beautiful young woman who is in love with her childhood friend, Antonio Segovia, a member of a prominent conservative family. As a consequence of her unequal social station, Bella has to contend with the inevitable heartaches caused by the Segovia family's distrust and contempt of her relationship with Antonio. The central character's life worries are amplified when she becomes the target of desire of an unscrupulous, yet powerful businessman, Román Montero, who is lured to the banana exporting region from the capital city with the hopes of tapping into the underdeveloped local economy. Infatuated by Bella, Señor Montero intends to make her his lover, however, upon rejection by the maiden, he abducts her and secludes her in his grand estate. During her captivity, nobody, particularly her beloved Antonio, comes to her rescue. On the contrary, Antonio is led to believe that Bella willingly initiates a romance with Montero, motivated by avarice.

Bella's father died tragically, and now the teenage girl lives in close proximity to her mother, Maj. They protect each other from the outside world, so to speak, but one day the outside world knocks on their door. Maj meets a new man, and Bella becomes involved in helping a young Bosnian refugee obtain asylum. Has Maj let go of her daughter too soon? Is Bella capable of helping both herself and others?

The Bella All-Star Band can't do their usual live gigs this Christmas, for obvious reasons. But that doesn't mean the Yuletide can't be celebrated. Recorded in beautiful country Victoria, Australia, at the tail end of a legendary lockdown, live in front of dozens of people - oh, alright, a dozen - this is A Swingin' Bella Christmas, 2020. If you've never been to A Swingin' Bella Christmas, season's greetings! Lovely to make your acquaintance! You'll pick it up as you go: the first set is largely Christmas originals, the second set is largely carols. There's some very occasional coarse language, sorry about that.

Bella is surrounded by external security, comfort, and expensive luxury. In her cold, unconnected everyday life, she randomly meets 20-year-old hippie Jacob. They share a sense of loneliness.

In a remote rural town where the law of the mightiest reigns, a young teacher is brutally raped and disappeared. Her father, furious at the indifference of justice, hires two assassins to avenge her.

This is the story of Bella, a defiantly proud transsexual and part-time tattooist, whose mere presence arouses the ire of one of the prison guards. But the guard's taunts are more complicated than they appear.
